To Love Mr Darcy: A Pride & Prejudice Variation NovelTo Love Mr Darcy: A Pride & Prejudice Variation Novel
by Martine Jane Roberts
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read this title on the FanFiction website. I cannot comment on the final published copy, as it may have been updated with corrections and changes. However, I did enjoy the plot and the characters enough to give it four stars.

One major glaring error, in the version of the story I read, are the situations that are just not true to the era. In two or more instances Jane and Elizabeth are involved in highly improper, unchaperoned situations yet no one even blinks an eye. To believe Elizabeth's father would allow her to go to London with her fiancee, Darcy, without any family members or adult chaperones is really not reasonable. For her then to be escorted by him to various events, again without a chaperone, and the ton takes no notice is actually kind of shocking. In reality, Elizabeth would have been accused of being his mistress and there would have been quite a scandal.

Having said this, if you just pretend Elizabeth is always chaperoned, the story is quite nice and I enjoyed the interactions between Darcy and Elizabeth.
